A New Day...

Ok, so having and maintaining a blog is.....work.
I totally gave in to just not having any drive to write and look, the site goes nowhere.

However, like many underdog stories, this is the turning point.

The point where the titular hero takes all of his lessons of anguish and turmoil, puts them into a meat grinder and comes up with gold.

So here it is.

This is more important than myself. I'm ready to do this.

Game recaps, predictions, insight and just plain 'ol hockey wisdom will come forth.

This wednesday, the Wings will be christening a new Pittsburgh arena.
My hope is for a nice 5-1 win, just to remind them that Hockey players have long memories.

My hope is.....

There will be Blood.

Game on Motherf*&^ers.

A New Year Dawns, and With It, Hopefully Some Glory!

Hi-dil-eee-ho Neighbors!

Happy New Year,

When last we spoke, things were ok, wings lost in OT 1-0 against the Shitjackets. But!

Yours truly went to the game on NYE (New Years Eve, dummy) and witnessed an old fashioned BEATDOWN of the Avs. 7 rows from the glass, saw Datsyuk's and Helm's goals in full REAL-8O-p (that's what I call real life definition) and it was GLOOOOOOORIOUS.

So the quick recap of New Years:

Datsyuk put on another incredible display of puck handling talent and scored the 1st goal like it's was no problem at all. Then Helm had an AMAZING shorthanded goal off a breakaway from center, up 2-0.

Then the Avs scored 2 in a row, by the same guy, and babies around the world sobbed in agony.
HOWEVER: Ville Leino was brought back from beyond the grave to score the go-ahead goal off a high deflection, it was reviewed, but the War Room said to the refs, "Hey Idiots, it's a goal. It's not above the crossbar, so call it a goal and don't call us about this remedial bullshit. If you'll excuse us, we have to continue correcting your retarded brother
Refs in other games..."

Then as the clock winds down to 2 minutes, we get a stupid hooking call, and so Colorado pulls Roy....(whispering)....what?.....(more whispering)......He's not playing any more?....(even more whispering)....Then why the F(&K are we losing to these guys?....Anyways, it's 6-on-4, crowd is going ape-shit, and get this: A corn-fed harvest mouse, a hooker, a nun, a Flemish peasant woman, whips, chains, whistles yo-yo's, a circus midget. My grandmother riding by on a bicycle give me the finger, and a duck! Then Helm scores another shorty by flinging it down the ice into the open cage, seals it, Wings win 4-2.

NOW IT'S OUT TO THE WEST COAST!

Wings played the Coyotes in Phoenix this last Saturday, and boy was it nice. Holmstrom scored 2 by being holmstrom, Datsyuk scores a sick top shelf goal, and Helm also scores for insurance. An incredibly solid game all around. Jimmy Howard is becoming what I like to call "My Favorite Goalie". he's making the great save, he's making the little save, and making the HUUUUUUGE save too. What's not to like? Plus, he's pretty famous for doing that one thing...

And so, we meet with Charlie Conway and the Ducks on Tuesday. I think it's going to be a good game. Plus, this big West Coast swing should see the return of Cleary and Hank to the ranks, so the journey to greatness is at hand. It's only a matter of time now.

GO WINGS!

Oh man, you gotta be shitting me...

Once again, we give up a goal first.

And once again, Todd Bertuzzi comes flying in on his pet Pegasus to save the day. The above was taken by NORAD, seen flying over the Rockies.

The first period was like grade school for me. And by grade school, I mean that day when that A-hole Chris punched me in the gut for being a dork. Punched SO HARD I could not breathe. It was terrible, so thank you for that.

But sweet chocolate love, the pass from Datsyuk to Bertuzzi for the deke and back hander was amazing. Then the crazy carom off of our proprietary "Back Board" technology that allows for the open net tip in for Bertuzzi's second.

Just magic I think. I f-ing hated this guy for so long, it's bizarre to see him creep into my heart. I'm just waiting for the inevitable curb stomping of a baby to make me hate him again, so I guess I should enjoy it while it lasts. Pretty good effort all around after the 1st period, Jimmy was great again, so I'm feeling ok at this point.

Except for Franzen, guys should be getting back in these next weeks, like Kronners, Williams, Hank, and Cleary. Then we should be getting back to full speed.

The second half should be pretty exciting when we get everybody back, it might be christmas either really late or super early. You pick!

We finish the home and home with Columbus on monday, so we'll see you then.

GO WINGS!!!

Why I'm not really upset, but that further makes me REALLY UPSET

OK

we lose 2 straight to the Hawks 3-0. WTF.

W

T

F

Anyways, I was speaking to a friend of mine, and he pointed out that you have to admit, it's nice having competitive hockey with the Hawks again. I mean, we were bad for a while, but look at the Hawks.

Only 3 cups to their name. We have 11. I'm not saying feel sorry for them, I'm saying it's nice to have an antagonist in the hawks. Granted, I liked it when it was automatic wins against them, nice little 4-1 or 3-0 victorties. But now they're competitive. Like GOOD competitive. which made me think to myself that maybe this ain't so bad, that it's good for hockey and both cities.

BUT!!!

Jeez louise, do we have to suck SO BAD against this team? I mean, this is not a "Shoe on the other foot" scenario. The hawks have NO GOALTENDING. Huet has the consistency of the Bush administration. And their back-up ain't no picnic either. They've relied solely on the goal scoring from every forward. Sure they'd let in like 3 goals, but because of Keith, Toews, Kane, Seabrook, Sharp, they would score like 5, making it look like a good game.

If it were the Wings, we'd be winning like 3-0 or 5-1 because we had goaltending AND offense. But like the man over at Triple Deke says, we can't really be too upset because we have 8 players out. And those players happen to be just about half of the face of this team now.

So in reality, I'm upset and not upset. Some would say that I've yet to choose a side, so here's the rub: I still hate the Hawks, but now these games are more entertaining than they used to be.

Just imagine what it's going to be like when we get everybody back. It's going to be a F&%king laser light show on steroids with unicorns and champagne waterfalls in Aspen.

Tell me I'm wrong.

Bluejackets Tonight, AND as a late Christmas present, we're getting Filppula back. So, I opew this is a shot in the arm for us.

GO WINGS!!!

F%&KING STARS

Ok, so I'm pretty sure we we're supposed to win today.

BERTUZZI HAD A GOAL AND 2 ASSISTS!!! WTF!?!?!?

I admit, Turco was good, but shit, he's always been awful against us.
it's cuz he's with a team that's NOT in michigan. Karma bee-yotch.

Anyways, I'm putting today behind me and looking towards the throwdown with the Hawks tomorrow. It's gonna be a good game, in my opinion because it's going to be a very healthy Hawks against the not-so-healthy Wings. Could go either way, but after today, I'm pretty sure the boys have a chip on their shoulder. And hopefully somebody told Ozzie it's game 7 in the cup finals so he'll get his shit together. Don't get me wrong, Howie was good today, but alas, the 3rd goal should have never happened. It's science.

Also, from now on, I'm going to have a random reference from each game to really give you that, "I Was There" feel.

From today's: Todd Bertuzzi got his 10th goal of the season, putting him 69th in league standings. Get it? 69?

Hawks next, Let's win one for the D, eh?

First Live Blog! Trial and Error!

Ok here it goes, time to watch a game, then write down what I see!

1st period!

-Doug Janik was called up to play in place of the kind of injured Ericsson. He's wearing number 37. That was Samuelssons number. I expect less than zero from this guy of he's gonna wear that number.

-Like 10 minutes left -Raffi makes a NFL Blitz type "DA BOMB" pass to Drew Miller, slaps it down from the air then SCOOOOOORES, with shades of Bobby Orr on a breakaway. Nicely done, new guy.

-With 3 minutes to play Mattias Ohlund ROCKS Zetterberg. X-Mo shows a Looney Tune like replay of Zetterberg being up right and then suddenly floored. I could see the birds and stars around his head, here's to another F-ing possible injury.

END OF PERIOD 1

Start of 2ND!

-Nothing happens, just shooting and saves by Howie. And that Zetterberg is out for the night.

END OF PERIOD 2

Start of 3RD!

-OH BOY! a nifty takeaway by Datsyuk leads to a pass to Homer, then it's a 2 on 1 with Bertuzzi, and the defender goes prone, Homer dekes and passes to Bert for the tip in, HE SCOOOOORES, Wings now up 2-0. That's mo like it.

-In a fit of joy, there's a turnover in the Lightning end and Lidstrom passes to a wide open Eaves, who maneuvers around Smith to SCOOOOORE, Wings up 3-0

GAME OVER!!! Wings win their 4th straight, now they only trail Chicago by 4 points going into this weekend. They play in Dallas on saturday afternoon, then they head to Chi-town on Sunday to play Windy City Shitbirds (clever, huh?) and that A-hole who left, Hossa. Time to Dig deep!

Also, Babcock got career win #300. Talk about being humble.

Stars up next, here's to hopefully shelling Turco.

You would not believe what happened on the way to blog...

SO....

Last time I wrote, things were a little more simple:

only 1 person was on the IR
we were above .500 hockey
it was not freezing balls weather

Now, after a very weird trip of not blogging, I'm back with a vengeance.
Girls, drugs, rock and roll, christmas shopping, all things that happened, happened.

Now, it's time to get back to biz.

RED WINGS - 3 - 2 - COYOTES Final

Went to the Wings game last night, against Phoenix. Here's the deal:

The scoring is opened up by noob Kris Newbury. Welcome to the show, as they say.
However, he did take 2 penalties. He took the first one, then scored once he got out of the box.

Which has led me to create the "Newbury Hat-Trick", which consists of an interference call, a goal, and less than 10 minutes on the ice. Which means Tood Bertuzzi has like, 4 Newbury hat tricks this year. Not too shabby.

Patrick Eaves then rips a wrister past Bryzgalov while short-handed. WTF, where has this guy been, only to show up now and score. Why couldn't he get here sooner.....wait a minute.....ok, folks I've just been told that Eaves' scoring touch was in suspended animation with Austin Powers' body in a deep freezer. Because of a power outage, it thawed, and hopped a plane, it should be here for a while hopefully.

Then Derek Meech scored. Even bigger WTF. I hate this guy, along with Lebda, but holy crap what a slapper to hit the bottom right post and score. Hope he can stop playing Uno by himself on the bench and be productive.

Phoenix scored twice, but that's about as important as getting a box of cereal so you could get the other cool toy, only to find you got the same one again.

This was a good game, solid outing from Jimmy Howard, he's really maturing from the young spud of a goalie at the beginning of the season. He's sharper, more confident, and hell, is using every bit of his leg pads. He's made saves that Osgood should have a flipping notebook taking notes on.

(SIDE NOTE: here's my hypocritical statement- Osgood sucks. I know he doesn't, but I'm trying the reverse jinx here. I mean, Conks carried us all last year, and then Ozzie got hot in the playoffs. I hope this is the last year of this, we have somebody play all year, and then swap him for a supercharged Goalie in the form of the Wizard f Oz. I want a number 1 goalie to play great during the year, and then be awesome in the playoffs.)

Anyways, we are now above .500 in the record books! It's a celebration!!

We play the Lightning next on Thursday the 17th. Get ready for anything, if the year so far is any indication.

See you Thursday
